The description says that it gives +1 to the hero's item attribute. I gave Olias a req. death magic wand and req. death magic offhand and he is still creating lvl 21 golems and lvl 14 horrors/fiends with 12 points in death magic. How do I get the +1 headgear to work so that he has 13? It doesn't appear to work on any of my heroes.

Hero helms give +1 based on the rune applied. :\ At first I thought it ment the weapon equipped, but it never gave the +1, until I added a rune.

I thought the same thing myself. Then I saw post (here I think) saying that the "item" it is referring to is whatever rune you attach to the head piece.

If you put a +1 Death Rune on it, the +1 Item Attribute will change to +1 to Death Magic and you'll get a total +2 to Death Magic rune bonus.

Oh, I see. Too bad sup death is nearly 5k.

One other question, do the runes get deleted if you get a new set of armor for a hero through one of the challenge missions?

No, it just changes the look.
